Under §316.193 of the Florida Statutes, the police are authorized to impound your vehicle for 10 days upon your first conviction for DUI. The ten days begins after your release from any jail time. On second conviction within five years, the impoundment time is 30 days. On third conviction within 10 years, the time is 90 days. As an alternative to impoundment, you may have the vehicle immobilized at your home.
